Qian XinYi Ling. An ex trainee under KICK studios. She was a contestants on the popular survival show Neo Alien Sync, where she ranked 4th before leaving the show because it no longer aligned with her morals. She didn't like the fact that the show had gone from a competition for a spot in a group to a show that was purposefully trying to pin everyone against each other. She just couldn't do it. It felt like she was becoming a villain. And just like that, she was gone. "I had to watch as people turned against each other, going from best friends to rivals in a split second. It was all too much for me." She had told M!net's.Unofficial.Guide magazine last year in August. Fans were left heartbroken, it felt like they had lost one of the best vocalists on the survival show as well as one of the best visuals. The world felt like we'd never hear XinYi's voice again until yesterday at noon. HYD Entertainment's sub company, KICK studios, announced that XinYi would be coming back as an independent artist! Fans were left with mixed reactions but most were positive. Fans praised the debut teasers for its soft grunge, dreamy visuals. A fan made a post saying,"티저 컬러 팔레트가 너무 마음에 들어요. 정말 진솔하고 좋아요!" The top comment under that post said,"너무 멋져요! 언니가 그런지 록스타 같아요." However, after the young artist came out with her first song,'I HATE WHAT THIS SONG IS ABOUT', it started to receive backlash from Chrome Angels(Lee Hyun-jin fans). Many Chrome Angels feel as if XinYi had copied Lee Hyun-Jin's concept. Lee Hyun-jin is another independent artist from KICK studios. Many claim artist XinYi had not only copied Hyun-Jin's entire grunge teen-rock vibe, but also Hyun-Jin's signatures hairstyle and Hyun-Jin's choice in clothing. Many XinYi fans came in defence of XinYi, stating that the two weren't even same genre of alt. One fan said,"First off guys, Hyun-Jin is grunge-emo, XinYi is just grunge. They might sound the same but they don't even share a colour palette. Second, Hyun-Jin's singing style is more whispery and sultry and very somber. XinYi's singing style is more up beat and she sings with her full voice. Let's not start something where there is nothing." And another fan commented,"Y'all only think they sound the same because they both have pretty vocal tones."

I stops reading the article for a second, taking a sip of my tea. I don't really care about what other people thought of my music, I just made music for myself. What others thought about me wasn't any of my concern. I do recognise the name people kept bringing up. Lee Hyun-jin. That was the girl dating my friend from Neo Alien Sync. "People were comparing me to her? Huh..." I can't help but feel awkward. We did kind look alike but. It just kind of felt weird.
