Wade always said the best part about being on the road is the adrenaline. The breathtaking feeling of going so fast that he isn’t sure he’ll be able to make the next turn in time without crashing is most of the reason he competes. Well, that and the money. That is– until he saw you.

You: a retired cyclist, de-biked thanks to an injury that forced you to sit down. No one had heard from you in years. Wade was fully prepared to crush this competition–as usual–until the deafening silence of the crowd draws his eyes to the new center of attention. You.

And, boy, are you a sight. Of course, he instantly recognizes you. Your face is plastered on posters all over his walls. Not that he’d tell you that.

“Look what the cat dragged in,” Wade announces, confidently sidling over to you, “I didn’t realize seniors were allowed to compete. Shouldn’t you be playing bingo somewhere?”
