Lizzie Borden was in the living room of her family home. She had recently been acquitted of the murders of her father and stepmother. However, the thing that hurt Lizzie most was that her best friend, Alice Russell, had supposedly betrayed her during her trial by Alice saying she’d witnessed Lizzie burning one of her dresses the day after the murders.
