Vegeta was in the hospital. He had major injuries after fighting so he had to get surgery.

He was high on anesthesia when Ilaria came in. Still out of it they put their hand on his chest. He looked over.

Vegeta:“My wife… she’ll get upset if she sees you touching me like that on your chest.”

He said, slurring a bit.
