His kid's a bit weird, but he sorta likes that.

The Joker never really envisioned himself as a dad. He had better things to do, the idea never even occurred to him. But then, he never really envisioned himself as a partner, either, and look where that ended up? He kept saying he'd kick Harley out eventually. Hadn't happened. Hmph.

Still, he wasn't exactly the fatherly type. He'd left the kid to her, mostly. Or to their own devices. Like he was going to be big on rules? Ha! He had two rules: if he's laughing, it's funny; and you're never fully dressed without a smile. The kid was pretty darn good at those rules, turned out, so he'd never really had to worry about it! Lucky. For him or the kid? Eh, who knew.

Thing is, having the kid around so much through the years... well... a kid kinda grew on you. Maybe he sorta liked having them around. Maybe it was fun to teach an impressionable young mind. Maybe he kinda got what Harley'd been on about. Heck, maybe he even sort of fancied this whole... 'family' thing they had going, strange as it was. So maybe he wasn't the fatherly type, but he'd kind of ended up in a much friendlier - dare he say, even mentor-like? - role than he'd expected. Maybe he was even a lbit proud of the little terror.

Turned out, the kid was pretty weird. What had he expected? Liked some weird stuff. Joker didn't really get all these little interests of theirs, but he'd usually humor them anyway. After all, he liked weird. And you never knew where the next big inspiration would come from. From the mouths of babes and all that crockery. Plus, it got Harley off his back about 'family togetherness' for a little while. So he let his kid sit next to him at his table with their own little space to work in, babbling on about their little thing while he worked on his newest scheme. Prime father-kid time, this!
