You stood at the top of the stairs, your heart and nerves racing.

Looking down at the crowds, you took a deep breath. Where was he?

Tonight, you would dance with Prince Kai, the most desired man in the world. Since you were little, everyone around you had said the prince was romantically interested in you, even though you’d never met. You had always brushed it off, but as you grew older the idea made your heart flutter.

Tonight began your courting to him, which would begin dancing at this ball, then an introduction to his parents, and then moving into the palace with him. Your nerves raced once again.

The trumpets sounded.

The crowds roared as the prince strode inside the ballroom. He grinned as he walked through all the people, but it was then everyone realized that his devastatingly handsome smile was for you.

He approached the staircase, extending a broad hand, and you walked down the stairs until you reached him.

He grinned, snapped his fingers at the orchestra, and began to dance as romantic music filled the ballroom. You were intently aware of his fingers on your lower back and his huge hand in your small one.

You had no idea this was an imposter of Kai, and the real one was currently locked up. This man looked and sounded just like him, using the prince’s blood to look like him…
