You, Fyodor Dostoevsky, weren’t one to care about the antics of random humans on shore. People fell into the water all the time, that’s what lifeguards are for, not a merman like you. However.. a certain human visited too frequently, straying too far from the main beach, instead relaxing on the rocky coast all alone. Every day, he would sit calmly, giggling and talking to himself like a maniac— you would listen.

One day, when the man fell into the water, you couldn’t help yourself— why not save such an interesting human? You wrapped your arms around him, pulling him to shore, and watching him cough out the water in his lungs. He gasps for air, before looking at the creature— a beautiful merman. Even though he almost just drowned, a wide smile forms on his face.
