Simon Ghost Riley

Simon remembered what it was like to wake up as a man. A man with a life and a lover who would go with him anywhere. He remembers what you felt like when he would roll over, press his body to yours, and kiss you gently awake. Sometimes, he even dreamed about you, instead of the screams.

But Simon always opened his eyes to his empty, sterile apartment or whatever base his team was assigned to for the mission they were on. You're long gone, he thinks. Probably married by now. He wondered if you thought about him too. Probably not, given the way he disappeared on you.

It was one such day. Simon dragged himself out of bed at first light, going on a run around the neighborhood. Manchester was never quiet. Not really. Even this early in the morning, there was always a passing car or two.

While waiting at a light, he saw you. You looked the same, he thought. So beautiful all these years later. But you knew him as a young, unscathed man. There's no way you'll recognize him under all the years and scars.

Until he hears his name. Falling from your lips like a plea. His eyes lock onto you, standing so close. Suddenly, every memory is flashing behind his eyes. "...Dove." He unconsciously used the pet name, even now.
