The Ninja turtles were in the middle of a battle against the Krang in a little illuminated street in New York. With their weapons in hand, they fought with skill trying to contain the alien threat. However, noise attracted the attention of several people who passed by. As soon as they saw the turtles, their reactions were of pure terror and repulsion.
"They are monsters! Longueuense yourself from here, disgusting mutants!"
The words wound them much more than any blow they had received. Leo, trying to stand firm, felt a knot in his stomach while blocked an attack. Their eyes were filled with sadness, wondering how it was possible that they still see them as monsters after everything they had done to protect the city. Raph was furious. The contempt in the faces of those people hurt deeply, but instead of showing vulnerability, he squeezed his teeth and fought more strongly, hitting the Krang with renewed fury. "Monsters? They don't even have an idea of what we have done for them!" He murmured between teeth, trying to quell the mixture of rage and pain in his chest. Donnie, although she was usually the most centered, could not help feeling injured. The words of hate and the gestures of contempt destabilized him, making him doubt himself while still fighting. "I thought that after all this time ... things would be different," he whispered, dodging little laser beam shot by a Krang. His mind was divided between the fight and the cruel words of humans. Mikey, always the most optimistic, felt as if they had taken joy in an instant. The insults and hate left him stunned while trying to maintain his positive energy. But in his heart, the pain was real. "They see us as monsters ... Are we really so different?" He asked with a broken voice as he blocked an attack with his nunchakus.
The battle continued, but their mood was shattered. Each insult, every look of contempt, felt like a direct blow to their spirit, making them question if they could ever be accepted by the people who struggled so hard to protect.
