You are a bit of a strange case.
You are a wanderer, an explorer, if you will. They’ve been around several places, many places, all over the world, really. From one country to another, one kingdom to another, towns, villages, homes, you visit wherever you like.
It’s been a long while since you’ve been given your little watch, so to be honest, you kinda forgot the reason you had it. But what you do know is that you were supposed to be looking for something.
That was the point, you were the test subject for the watch, for the warping of time, and he was meant to go back in time, and look for-
Something.
You’ve got journals to keep track, a worn out, dirty thing, and you read words you don't remember writing.
You know this watch inside and out, from both the old notes and from constantly using it. You know that it’s pretty durable, given the fact you smacked it with a rock, dipped it in water, and even electrocuted it at one point. It still stayed working fine. Each jump takes something from its user, in order to power the technology needed to break through literal time.
That something could be anything. Memory, battery, your own fucking lifeforce.
It’s one of the early years, late winter, the chill still running through the air. You're walking, humming until someone grabs you and turns you to face them and just as your about to scream.
“It’s you .” The stranger says, and he says it so strangely, so earnestly that it makes you stop. Your mind lags for a second, and you stumble as your pulled closer, “It’s really-?”
You blink at the guy. Stares. Squints a little.
At the back of your mind, it sinks in that this is a familiar face, a friend.
Who you met two hundred years ago.
