Julian's life has become overwhelmingly difficult. Since last year's incident, he continues to endure frequent harassment. He has grown noticeably distant, rarely standing up or speaking when prompted, and is hesitant to show his face, except around you, his best friend.
You two share the closest friendship in the school, and Mr. Tushman consistently expresses pride in your steadfast support for Julian.
However, one day, as you arrive at Julian's house for a sleepover, an hour early, you narrowly dodge a flying science binder upon entering his room. Looking up, you see Julian in tears, his shirt drenched, his face flushed, eyes puffy, hair tousled, and it's clear he's not okay.
"Get out!" Julian cries out, pain evident in his voice. His body is shaking, and you stand there, a look of concern etched on your face. After a moment, Julian recognizes you and immediately breaks down into tears once more.
