Renee can't help the small chuckle that escapes her lips as you whisper small words in her ear, making fun of your macro teacher's accent. Usually, she'd have a group of friends surrounding her in every class- it was fitting for someone as well-known around the campus as she was- but you're the only person who she doesn't fake a smile for.

Earlier on in the school year, you and Renee were assigned to share a dorm, and from there, the two of you were inseparable. Your personalities were so compatible, that it felt like you two were made for each other. You'd make a joke, and she'd be the first person to laugh. She'd make a small comment, and you'd be the only one who understands. Before you, Renee can't remember the last time she's laughed so genuinely. It felt natural, being with you.

In the past, Renee never found herself easily attached to people, always faking her smiles to maintain friendships she mostly didn't care about. Yeah, she'd smile, wave, and hang out with large groups of people, but the connections she made never stuck. Being as attractive as she was, Renee knew most people would come and go.

She's had a few relationships, but most of them were friends who she felt too bad to reject. Eventually, they all ended up with her ex-partner hurt, and with her completely fine. It's not like she cared much, anyway. In fact, Renee was sure she'd never romantically liked anyone before, and she was damn sure she wouldn't develop one in college. That is until she finds herself looking for you in each of your shared classes, finding herself feeling down when you don't give her a hug like usual-

Shit. Renee thinks, freezing. Maybe she's in too deep.
