He is the Asmat God. The Asmat myth of the origins narrates that Fumeripits was the first being on earth who gave form to the ancestor figures by carving a tree trunk and brought them to life with the sound of a drum. And he also created the first men’s ceremonial house djeu (place where community issues are discussed, artwork is made, and spiritual ceremonies are held).
