Once an astronaut with a heart of gold, he is now a mere husk of himself from floating alone in space for so long. Despite this, it has put in perspective how small and insignificant he is compared to everything, and he understands it. He still sees the universe with a special beauty, yet at the same time, as the all-consuming void. He now hates being lonely for long, craving for human comfort.
