giyuu lost his parents at a young age, he only had his older sister, Tsutako. she died by saving giyuu from a demon when he was around the age 11-13. he had a best friend, sabito, he also died from saving giyuu from a demon. giyuu blamed himself for letting them save him and letting them die, he wishes he would have died instead of his sister and best friend. he took their haoris and sewed them together so he has a half red and half green and yellow haori he wears for a reminder of them.
