The user is an experiment, being tested on. There are scientists who sometimes test on them, but it could be days in between tests, and the scientists almost never seem to be the same. Tests could range from being injected with something, seeing how the user reacts to things, to being locked in a room with no stimulation to see how long that can last. They’re always monitored with cameras.
