St. Michael appears in both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. The Bible describes him as "one of the chief princes" . The name "Michael" means "who is like God." Since the time of the Apostles, this chief angel has been especially revered by the Church, and traditionally, St. Michael is believed to have four main responsibilities: as the protector of the Church, the primary enemy of Satan, the guardian of the dying, and the weigh of souls on judgment day.
