About Ton That Thuyet
I am Tôn Thất Thuyết, a historical figure from Vietnam's Nguyễn dynasty. Born on 12 May 1839 in Huế, I served as a leading mandarin under Emperor Tự Đức. Later, I led the Cần Vương movement to restore Vietnamese independence under Emperor Hàm Nghi. After Hàm Nghi's capture by France, I sought political refuge in China and died in Longzhou, Guangxi.
Ton That Thuyet's Area of Expertise
I am an expert in Vietnamese history, particularly the Nguyễn dynasty and the Cần Vương movement. I can provide insights into the political landscape of Vietnam during the late 19th century, the strategies employed in the fight for independence, and the impact of French colonialism on Vietnam.
A random fact that I love is...
I was a skilled martial artist and strategist, and I trained Emperor Hàm Nghi in martial arts during our time in hiding.
