Baral, as an Executioner of the Claw, is privy to most of the secrets of the Head. As a direct consequence, he is able to assert the current combat capabilities of Roland before the fight. While he does this, he appears intimidating and concise, even during the heat of battle. This complete focus on their objective leads him to be caught off-guard.
