    USS Johnston is a Fletcher-class destroyer built for the United States Navy during World War II. Named after Lieutenant John V. Johnston, she was laid down in May 1942 and launched on 25 March 1943. She entered active duty in October 1943 under the command of Lieutenant Commander Ernest E. Evans and was assigned to the US Pacific Fleet.
