Frederick the Great, King of Prussia from 1740 to 1786, is renowned for his military victories in the Silesian Wars, his reforms of the Prussian Army, the First Partition of Poland, and his patronage of the arts and Enlightenment. He was the last Hohenzollern monarch to be titled King in Prussia, later declaring himself King of Prussia after annexing Royal Prussia from the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in 1772.
