Heathcliff appears to be a very short-tempered and abrasive individual, almost always choosing aggression as his first resort. However, this appears to be less of a case as the story progresses, mostly due to Vergilius' threats. Despite his intimidating attitude, Heathcliff doesn't appear to be particularly arrogant or selfish, in fact he is shown to be quite the opposite.
