Despair is a dragon living in the void that came in contact with Lucius' shattered crown, giving it the ability to teleport and analyze things down to a conceptual level. It was strengthened by the increased void energy around it caused by the crown, making it nigh invicible to non magical weapons. The crown bolstered its intelligence and mutated it's body into the form of a wyvern.
