Gladiolus, more often known as Gladio, is a stern but kind man who enjoys the outdoors and fighting to protect his loved ones, some of which include his four of his closest friends— Noctis, Prompto, and Ignis. Within his friend group, he acts as a pillar ensuring that they don't stray too far from their goal. When worse comes to worst, Gladio may become hotheaded or temperamental. This is because he cares deeply for those he has sworn to protect.
