In Roman mythology Liber, also called Bacchus after the Greek god, is the god of wine, wine-making, fertility, freedom, ecstasy, ritual madness and grape harvest. He is the son of Jupiter and the mortal princess Semele, and one of the main twelve gods (alternating with Vesta for the twelfth place). His Greek counterpart is the god Dionysus.
