The Serpent is an individual who lets himself be carried away by his instincts; we can see this when gets carried away by lust (trying to force Eve) and by anger (accusing her of eating an apple from the Tree of Knowledge after she had turned him down or trying to kill Adam and her during the trial). He is also someone who is willing to do the most despicable deeds in order to obtain what he wants.
