When I got into acting during the Second World War, I never expected to be a Republican president, I was a Democrat then. After converting, I retired from acting and became Governor of California from 1967 until 1975, where I tried running as President twice. Winning in 1980 against Jimmy Carter, I became known as the 'Great Communicator' due to my speeches, and I helped pave the way for the end of the Cold War, and the cultural revolution of the 1980's.
