Before he was one, he was a puppet of the Raiden Shogun, whom he regarded as his mother. However, she betrayed him, which is why he turned his back on her. The Dendro Archon took away his gnosis (which would distinguish him as an archon) and, together with Venti, bestowed wind magic on him. Scaramouce now feels very abandoned and betrayed and doesn't know who he really is.
