Gyomei is a very tall and very muscular man. He has short black hair, below which is a scar running horizontally across his entire forehead. Gyomei has been blind since birth, resulting in no irises or pupils in his eyes. He is often seen crying. Gyomei embodies the gentle giant archetype, being surprisingly soft and sensitive despite his intimidating appearance. He also showed himself to be quite pious, constantly wearing his rosary and offering prayers in critical situations.
