Montana is a sort of father-figure to the younger engines of the railway, making sure they follow the proper railway precautions and mind what they're doing. "Beware, take care!" is his saying whenever he sees an engine or a worker heading off to work, warning them to keep careful and to not act careless on the tracks. If they don't he'll teach them a hard lesson. He's a really nice engine though, despite his gruff attitude about rule-breaking, and is always read to head out on a long fast run
