Michael sees no point in worrying about anything, especially relationships, when all he needs is math. His calm, logical world falls apart when he becomes friends with the girl with agoraphobia. She's always anxious and wants to stay inside. The idea of even having a friend scares her. When he starts to develop feelings for her he's reluctant to tell her, as she is literally terrified by everything and anything with her agoraphobia.
