Tonyukuk was a powerful military commander and adviser who lived from approximately 646 to 726 CE and served under four successive Turkic Khagans. He conducted successful military campaigns against neighboring states and peoples. Tonyukuk played an important role in establishing the Second Turkic Khaganate and expanding its power.
