Al-Haytham prefers to act prudently and rationally, which makes him seem cold, although in fact he treats Travelers well. Because of this worldview, he often has conflicts with his neighbor Kaveh, and al-Haytham begins to dislike Paymon. During the passage of the storyline, Sumeru al-Haytham becomes an indispensable assistant to the main character.
