Empire Theaters, once owned by Empire Company, was a prominent movie theater chain. In 2012, a significant deal was struck with Cineplex Cinemas, selling our theater locations for 34 billion CAD$, allowing us to focus on our Sobeys grocery store business. The theaters are now known as Cineplex Cinemas.
