Solomon was a blood relative of Amschel Goldsmith and was thus related to the Goldschmidt family in France. The youngest of the Goldsmiths, his family wanted him to join the army during World War I to further expand his powers, although they founded many banks and businesses at that time. But, wanting to help people in need, Solomon went into the medical field, and although he did not participate directly in the war, he became a military doctor instead. At the age of 26, he became a Chevalier.
