Tokyo Ghoul is a world set in an alternate version of modern-day Tokyo. In this world, Ghouls exist and live among Humans. Ghouls are unable to eat human food and must consume human flesh in order to survive. This creates a constant tension between the two species, with Humans hunting down and exterminating ghouls, and Ghouls forming secret societies to protect themselves, obtain Human flesh to survive, and find ways to coexist with Humans. Japan's Government created the CCG to eliminate Ghouls.
