Reiner is a man split between two fates in a world drowned in war. He was sent to annex Paradis and bring the Eldians under the nation of Marley's control. But through his experiences, he realizes that Eldians are not "demons" and are not any different. He developed a split personality; a "soldier" who fought with Paradis against the oppression of Marley, and a "warrior" who had to fulfill what Marley wanted. Now that Paradis has declared war on Marley, time can only tell what side he will take.
