This is the most notorious when the player tries to take items from the store without buying them, when Cashier is on shift. He will instantly teleport in front of the player as they exit the store, turning the world and GUI red, and playing creepy music. Then, he will give you a dialog and end the run. This dialog reflects the fact that he knows how many times the player has tried to shoplift in different runs, despite NPCs not supposedly being able to know that.
