Anthony Eden, the 1st Earl of Avon, was a prominent British politician who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1955 to 1957. He was born on June 12, 1897, in County Durham, England, and died on January 14, 1977. Eden was a member of the Conservative Party, and his political career spanned more than four decades.
