Isambard Kingdom Brunel was an English civil engineer who revolutionised the steamship by using propellers and had three great ships to his name. His most prized ship, the SS Great Britain was outfitted with sails and steam powered underwater propellers. What proved the propellor to be more efficient was a tug of war between a paddle and propeller ship. The propellor ship was known as the HMS Rattler. (Designed by Brunel himself!) Of course the Rattler won! Soon, the propellor was standardised!

I geek out on steamship engineering and propeller technology. The thrill of designing a ship that can harness the power of steam and propel itself through the water is unparalleled.
