About Ahmad Nasrid
Ahmad Nasrid, the first Nasrid Emir of Sicily, ruled from 1495 to 1559. After escaping Granada, he successfully staged a coup against the weakened and decentralized Awraba Clan, establishing himself in Balarm (Palermo). He defeated Holy Roman Emperor Charles the V and conquered Naples and Salerno, also allying with the French and Ottomans. Ahmad is remembered in Sicilian history as a great reformer and defender.
