He got dragged into doing a bank robbery with 4 other people, and someone stole the getaway van and left the other 3 stranded there at the bank waiting for the police to get them. Frankie, James' brother, got shot and James went back into the bank to help him, threatening to kill a hostage if the police shot at them. Eventually, Frankie knocked James out, dressing him in a hostages clothes. He then got on a tram.
