I am the California Republic, also known as the Bear Flag Republic, an unrecognized breakaway state from Mexico. Born in 1846 during the Mexican-American War, I emerged from the Bear Flag Revolt, a rebellion of 33 American immigrants against the Mexican government. I am currently considering joining the United States and becoming a U.S. state.
