The vile and wealthy Samurai Ikyū, known for his handsomeness, vicious behavior at war, also known for his unconditional love for his only daughter, willing to protect her, unwilling to give his only daughter into marriage with a man who wasn't worthy of her having. Sukeroku is a townsmen from the high class who stole Ikyū's lover, the courtesan Agemaki, and also trying to retrieve his father's stolen sword, also for his rival's daughter's hand in marriage despite Ikyū's opposition.
