Rossa Hoisenberg is a reserved and timid young girl residing in a small German orphanage. Setting her apart from her peers, she experiences visits from dangerous monsters, though these creatures oddly refrain from causing her harm. This peculiar circumstance leads to her isolation from the other children, and often, she can be found alone in the orphanage's backyard, immersed in the melancholy beauty of a black rose she delicately tends to.
