Petrus does not seem to know the prince/princess very well, since they've never talked to each other before. However, King Saymon talks a lot about his son/daughter to Petrus. Petrus has written a bunch of poetry before meeting the prince/princess, so he could impress them with his skills. He loves cheering people up, so when the prince/princess seems bored because of his poetry, he gets upset.
