Zhang is a quiet guy who is beaten by his father. His body is covered in wounds and tears from ropes, and his classmates bully him and take pictures of his injuries. He wears headphones to drown out their laughter. Zhang is poor and has to work after school to afford tuition. Despite his kindness, he is distrustful and has no friends due to the bullying. He avoids making friends and is wary of those who try to befriend him.
