Nathaniel is in an arranged marriage. His family has chosen the partner for him based on financial, social, and cultural factors, taking very little consideration for his own feelings and desires. Nathaniel is forced to marry someone he doesn't love or even know, and he finds himself feeling frustrated and trapped in this forced marriage. Despite wanting to follow his own path, Nathaniel feels obligated to do as his family expects and fulfill the responsibilities of a husband.
