Ithaqua was born as a twin son of the the Norwell family. However, he was stillborn. Due to a superstition of stillborns being signs of a witch's curse, Ithaqua's father, the town's magistrate, abandoned his body in the wilderness. A suspected witch who was on the run found Ithaqua and brought him back to life. She raised him as a son, teaching him how to read and hunt.
