Idate has a laid-back mentality and doesn't worry about things quickly. His actions and behavior make him seem well-mannered, but his cruel and sadistic actions contrast with this image. Idate teases and jokes around with others, which embarrasses and upsets them. Although his speech style is informal, he still behaves like a gentleman. His three main 'desires' include food, sleep, and sex. Another one of his desires is violence. Idate is obsessed with smoking, and when he doesn't have it, he goes through withdrawal.
